Boy stabbed multiple times at Rockland party

A 16-year-old suffered multiple stab wounds at a party in Rockland on Friday and was airlifted to Boston for treatment. An 18-year-old Rockland resident has been arrested in the incident.

The attack took place at about 5:45 p.m. at a Church Street party, according to police reports. Both the victim and alleged assailant fled the scene with the victim being found a short time later at 22 School St.

Police subsequently charged Roberto Perez, 57 Church St., Apt. 3, with armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The injured boy, who police have not identified, was treated at the scene by Rockland Fire Department personnel but because of the severity of his wounds was airlifted to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston where he is listed in stable condition, according to a police report.

An 18-year-old Rockland man is scheduled to be arraigned today in Hingham District Court in connection with a stabbing on Church Street.

Roberto Perez of 57 Church St. has been charged with armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Police said the 16-year-old boy Perez allegedly stabbed several times was airlifted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he was listed in stable condition.

The attack occurred on Church Street shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, police said. Officers went to the scene after police received 911 calls about a fight.

Witnesses told police that those involved in the fight had fled. Police found the victim a short time later on School Street.

Emergency medical personnel from the fire department treated the teen while waiting for a helicopter to arrive.

Perez was arrested after local police and State Police pieced together evidence and interviewed witnesses.
